The history of breastfeeding goes back to beginning of time itself.
There was no such thing as artificial milk until 1960's and 70's.
Before that we used wet-nurses or other mothers who would care for their babies.
Breastfeeding was at an all time low in 1973 with only 26% of mothers choosing breastfeeding over artificial milk.
There has been practically a generation of women who were raised on bottled milk (artificial milk).
Today more people are choosing breastfeeding, and with the lack of information women have been given from their mother's and grandmother's you'll find they need you.
They are searching for your support in breastfeeding their baby.

Hi! I'm Julie LarsenMy name is Julie Larsen. I'm a wife and mother of four children. I'm a certified doula but that is just the tip of the iceberg. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Family Consumer Sciences & Master's in Library Sciences. After having my first child I learned about doula work and dove in. I have taken hundreds of trainings from Rebozos, Peer Lactation Counselor, Nutrition Expert (Holistic Nutritional Coach), Bereavement, Master Herbalist, Hypnobabies and more and have been a doula since 2011. I am also an author of various books.
With all of these trainings and my faith so important, I discovered that they lacked the importance of God, so in 2014 I founded the Catholic Doula Program. I've expanded an outreach with other programs, teaching fertility, nutrition, and my main programs the Catholic Doula Program Birth and Postpartum Training. Note: Mommy Latch program is open to any Faith - but we are not part of IBCLC or CLC training programs. CLC is trademarked. We have decided to trademark our own program and name - as Mommy Latch Breastfeeding Specialist and Mommy Latch Breastfeeding Educator. |

Certification Requirements for full Mommy Latch:
1. Follow the guidelines in Chapter 9 on making your own curriculum and one class for
breastfeeding – submit requirements from that section to be called a “Mommy Latch
Breastfeeding Educator”.
2. Make a 10-20 Resource list for breastfeeding moms.
3. Make a definition term list of breastfeeding terms – 30 minimum – anything can be
maximum.
4. Finish all assignments/case studies, quizzes, etc. from the modules/chapters.
5. Five book reviews of breastfeeding books – you may use the books from our course and/or
find some at the library.
6. Interview at least 2-3 breastfeeding mothers about their progress in breastfeeding.
Suggestion for this exercise: a newborn baby time frame, 3–6-month time frame, and 6-
month and on time frame (when solid foods are introduced).
7. Breastfeeding Final Project - see manual for more details on this.
8. Read through the main manual that you are given plus 2 main books. The main books are: Boost Your Breastmilk, "Making More Milk" (Breastfeeding guide to). Mother Food and A Mother's Garden by Hilary Jacobson are only required if adding in Lacta-Herbalist!
The Pocket Guide to Breastfeeding (older 2nd edition is fine) will also be a required skills book (no test.)
9. Work with a breastfeeding mother for around 20-30 hours total or do the project mentioned above. You may choose to do some hours on a final project and some hours working with a mother.
10. Finish the study guides for reading the other books and answer those questions as well for your
final grade.
11. Learn Skills with us on making herbs - this class will coincide with our Magnificat Holistic Woman's health class - since we do similar things - please contact us when that weekend will be - or you can opt-in for recordings!
12. Turn in 3 evaluation sheets of working with a mother for final grading. Also, 3 references are also required - these can be friends and/or professional.

*Take 3 CEU’s a year as upkeep for your certification or 6 CEU's every other year. If doing CEU"s with us - we will charge a $25 a year CEU fee or $50 every other year fee. Then we will provide you a CEU class for no extra charges.
***Lacta-Herbalist add on students will need to do at least one CEU every other year in an herbalist type class to maintain full certification - no extra fee.

What is required for this class?
The class requires the student to follow instructions in the manual, take quizzes, do assignments, and follow certification requirements in order to be certified. We are currently looking into possible IBCLC or other CERP's and will let students know when and if that is available. Thank you.
Do You Offer Payment Plans?
Yes, we offer payment plans. Our current payment plan is simple. Yes, $175 down and then we set up a monthly payment usually $100.
Do I need additional supplies?
You will need to purchase your books. We do not include books. We do include PDF files of your study guides, etc. The current book list is: Mother Food by Hilary Jacobson, The Breastfeeding Guide to Making More Milk (older edition is fine), Boost Your Breastmilk by Alicia Simpson. If taking Lacta-herbalist add-on please consult instructor for add-on book requirement.
How long is this course last? Can I join in late?
Yes, you can join at anytime - but special discounts will be through end of 2024.

Will I get direct feedback?
Yes, your instructor will be available for feedback via email. If you need an extra time to talk with instructor - you are allowed 3 time slots of mentoring for no extra charge. After that mentoring slots are extra. Thank you for understanding.

Note: We do not offer refunds on this course - this is a pilot program, we offer samples to interested students, etc. However, if you signup for a payment plan and decide to drop out, then you will be asked to not signup again in the future.
