Steps for Certification ~ Catholic Postpartum Program--- We are re-doing the postpartum program -- there are new book list and newer requirements -- but you can look at list below for main overview -- there might be some slight changes!
Introduction to Certification
Catholic Postpartum Certification -- we are adding in some new requirements (they will be noted and starred). Older students maybe "grandfathered" out of new requirements. We are offering additional requirements because we want to stay up to date with other doula programs. (See main Postpartum program page for what is included in your package). Thank you!
1. Resource List
Make a 20 Resource List for postpartum mothers (this is also a B.L.O.O.M. postpartum requirement) -- one list is fine. You may add more for extra credit.
2. Book Reviews
Five book reviews are required.. You may use required books for 3 of the book reviews. You should try to find 2 other books related to postpartum. Highly suggested: "A Catholic Postpartum"
3. Postpartum Term List (New)
We have doula terms requirement for birth doula and we are just adding this on for postpartum doula. Please find 20 postpartum related doula terms. When we update our modules this year -- we will add in more information. Thank you.
4. Postpartum Interviews
Interview mothers on postpartum -- also you may interview a father/grandfather for one of the interview assignments -- please see newest module update on this. Thank you.
5. Case Studies and ASsignments
Case Studies -- we include case studies in each module -- you will be required to do some for certification others will have a choice. Assignments vary - please see modules.
6. Mini-Breastfeeding - is now "Boost Your Breastmilk"
Now, you must read "Boost Your Breastmilk" book - easy to read and has some fun recipes in it as well. That will count for your breastfeeding section of the course. If you are co-enrolled in the basic BOOB educator course that uses this book - we can waive this requirement.
7. Quizzes -- Pass at 80% (Any New Quizzes are optional for older students)
If we have quizzes - the passing rate is 80% - however, our new course includes more hands on type assignments or case studies.
8. Work with postpartum families (New) -- 10 hours or online support is allowed - "2o21" Update
You need to work with postpartum families can be from two families up to 4 if so desired. Hours can be 10 hours or more. We encourage more. We are now allowing for online support of families. Another option is to take our Kitchen Doula Academy Nutritional Doula class - we will let you opt-in for that class for only $66.95 (instead of higher) - and take that course as your requirement for working for postpartum families - so please ask us about that class or go to http://thekitchendoula.com or www.nutritionaldoula.com (website for actual Thinkific class). Thank you so much! Right now we will count the main course "pregnancy" nutritional doula. Once we get the alternative postpartum nutrition made - we will let you take that class.
9. Postpartum Videos Assignments (New) -- See Below for info
We will be adding in postpartum videos for you to view -- you will critique videos for certification purposes. For now, we will add to classroom -- there will be a module update soon and we will add to modules. Thank you.
10. Community project/portfolio of work
Our final requirement - we usually have a community project - some of this can include your resource list on a website, terms, book reviews - so consider it kind of a portfolio of what you have accomplished and then one item that you are helping community.
