Work Study Opportunities at Catholic Doula Program
​FAQ and how to apply! 

What is the Work Study program at Catholic Doula? 

Hello prospective work study student. A work study student will do so many hours a week of work or a month (depending on our needs) and you will be able to take a doula course for a discounted rate. Some examples of what our work study students can do: 1) Grading - we usually need work graded for our other students - we will most likely have you grade a class you are not enrolled in or only after you have finished half of your course work. 2) Marketing help, you can help us with marketing our courses. 3) Moderation work - you can help with moderating and contributing to our Facebook group. 4) Blogging - you can contribute by writing for our blog once a week. 5) Other tasks can vary - we may start a podcast and maybe you can help us fill podcast seats for instance, etc. 6) Write posts for our FB/IG pages that we will schedule. You only need to make up the post. 

IF I work - is my course free? 

 No, it is not a free course. At this time we can only offer a partial discount to our work study students. So, you will probably be paying around half of what the retail value of our course is listed for or a little bit over that depending on the course(s) you are choosing to enroll in as a work study student. Some courses can only be discounted down to $300 (like main doula courses) and other courses we maybe more than willing to go lower. If you do a combo of two or more courses, then we are more likely to offer you a better deal for your work study hours. Example you could pay $75 a month on the course you are taking along with work study hours. It depends on your needs - we may vary this a bit depending on the student. ​

How Long will I be Required in the Work Study program? 

Your work study program can be a committment of 6-months, or 9-months, or 12-months depending on how deep of a discount you want on our courses. Or we can go by hours worked - if you are in a rush to finish - you can also choose more hours and less time. We will work out our discounts accordingly. In general shorter time (shorter hours) means you will only receive a small discount - like $100 off a course for instance. We prefer longer committment of time if you can. However, we also offer a trial period to see if you are a good fit. If we think you are not a good fit for our needs, we will dismiss you and you can still finish the course - but will be required to pay more on the course. (A 3 month option is possible for someone who wants to work more hours for instance). 

How do I apply? What else do I need to know? 

Great you want to apply for our work study program - please fill out the Form below or email [email protected] for the application. We will also most likely set up an interview before having you come on board. We want to make sure you are a good fit. Deadline for applications? We will be taking ongoing applications this fall 2024 and once we think we have enough positions filled - we will announce when this closes - so the sooner you get your application in the better for our program. If you cannot afford to pay for a partial amount of your doula course, please do not apply. There will be a payment plan - we can give you an example of like $75 a month. We do not want to give specifics as each work study student may have a different plans for each student - we try to work with you on what you can afford each month and hours. We prefer 6 month or more committment from students as it is easier for us to work with you that way. You can opt-in to renew after 6 month time frame for another 3 months or 6 more months. After one year, we ask you to let another student come in and study. Thank you.

Once you are approved, we will start you on your payment plan for your doula or Magnificat brand classes. Our work study program is available for most of our classes; Doula and Magnificat brand! The courses are based on my newest edition of "Comfort in Birth Method" book which has lots of evidenced based information in it plus our power point slides also have this too. 
We also do not use "inclusive language". All our modules refer to mothers and fathers/partners in a proper way. 

Comfort support for families

As a birth doula you will offer comfort support during the labor, encouraging mothers to continue and helping them relax through labor.
As a postpartum doula, you will offer support with helping with various tasks from laundry, cooking, and caring for the baby. 
Bereavement doulas can help with a memory box and funeral planning.

Note: Pro-life pledge is only required for birth doula, postpartum doula and bereavement classes only. We do not require this for the alternative classes (Magnificat or Mommy Latch) as we feel that this aspect is not needed.
