![]() I know that many people consider St. Dymphna a saint for anxiety and depression. I invoke her for those topics when it is needed. I found an article awhile back about St. Dymphna helping a pregnancy. I thought this was awesome. She's a special saint and sometimes mom's are anxious during pregnancy. I think she is an appropriate saint that we can turn to for help when we have anxiety in pregnancy too. Here's the full story about St. Dymphna helping a pregnancy at this other blog: https://aleteia.org/2016/07/08/once-we-met-saint-dymphna-everything-changed-for-the-good/ I started reading a book about St. Dymphan titled "The King's Prey" by Susan Peek. It is a book about St. Dymphna's life and how it touched other people. Go grab a copy if you are looking for some long reading (very long book.) The King basically had a mental illness and his wife died and he was left without her. He turned towards having another wife, but it was Dymphna who he wanted as she looked alot like his wife. But it is wrong for him to have Dymphna to be his next wife. So, Dymphna fled her father the King. The King ended up killing Dymphna in the end because she refused to be part of something so wicked and wrong. The book goes more into the insights of what happened for Dymphna's life of being on constant run all the time. It is kind of a heartbreaking story. I think her life is one for us to think about and ask if we are ever mentally running away from God? Do we have anything to hide? Or should we take the time to go to God and ask for forgiveness of any sins? Anyway, I hope this little blog gives you something to think about. I meant to write something and forgot about writing about St. Dymphna - may she inspire us all to be better in our lives!
