Pro-life pledge

Pro-Life Pledge. I agree to:
we are refreshing this pledge....
1. To acknowledge that life begins at conception (or fertilization) and to respect all life from this moment of conception to natural death.
2. To acknowledge all Catholic Church teachings on life and to accept those teachings as sound to guide my decisions as a pro-life doula.
3.  To acknowledge the Catholic Church teachings on IVF; however, we are able to support a surrogacy pregnancy   as long as the couple is not practicing Catholic - since a Protestant would not know this is wrong. Perhaps, in supporting the surrogate couple, they will see the light and truth of Jesus and His Church.  (Note: We prefer the couple to be a man/woman unity.)
4. To acknowledge the Church teaching on abortion and that all life matters and we are to never support a mother choosing death or abortion over life. (In other words we are not "abortion doulas"). We are "life bearing" doulas!  (Note: the term abortion for miscarriage is not intended in this statement above).  We cannot help a mother obtain an abortion, drive her to a clinic, or sit and watch or wait with her during an abortion time.
5. It is OK for pro-life doulas to support bereavement and miscarriage and stillbirth as long as we are doing it in a pro-life way. We can even support a mother AFTER abortion in a Christlike way in order to lead this mother back to Jesus and Mary and the Church (or at least help them heal their wounds in a non-judgmental fashion).

6. I _________(name of doula in training or joining our association) agree to above terms.

Read Birth Doula Scope of Practice statement on this page.
We are still working on a postpartum one so postpartum students will  just follow the birth one for now and ask instructor for any additions related to postpartum work!
