Requirements for Certification:-- New as of January 6th, 2017. You can also look at "Steps to Certification Page" if you prefer here. * Four Book Reviews (added in one extra book this year)including the "A Catholic Mother's Companion" and Christ Centered Childbirth Book plus two of your choice -- you may include the two St. Anne Breastfeeding books if so desired. *Take St. Anne Breastfeeding Course for Mothers and Doulas now available (you will be given one module at a time). See information above linked. * Three Birth Interviews: natural, epidural, and c-section * Read Scope of Practice and agree to it (now included in module one) (if you did not get it please ask for us to send it to you). * Follow assignments and case studies in each module (Fast-Track has less requirements -- but you have scheduled dates to finish things) * Watch Birth Videos and Review them. We will add them to classroom (new requirement for 2017 students--2016 students will receive extra credit for doing)--we will add to modules at a later date. *Childbirth Course -- you may attend a childbirth class locally or ask to review one module from the St. Gianna Course. *Go to a Labor and Delivery Room at hospital--review hospital. Optional: Go to a Birth Center and review birth center. * Do all skills set that is part of the Level One Royal Rebozoway Training module included in your birth package. Please also use new Facebook group. * Birth Attendance: Choose to do 2 births and research paper OR choose to attend 3 births and no paper. Fast-Track students can do 2 births. *Research Paper (optional depending on above): Research a topic related to Pregnancy and Birth. *Doula Term List (Instead of making a list of terms--we will give you a list of terms)--You must find the definitions to the list of terms we give you and also there will be some abbreviations you will need to know as well. Please site the sources you find the definitions from. We will give you some definitions in the course too! This list must be submitted with portfolio portion of course. *Make a Resource list of 20 resources that are related to doula, birth, etc. can include like your local WIC office. (This is also required for B.L.O.O.M., so only need to do one time.) ***New Business Mini-Course: We are hoping to create a new business mini-course for 2017; if it is not ready yet -- you will work with the extra business module. Mini-course is added in at no extra cost to you. Thank you. ****New Requirement: Create a portfolio of most of your certification requirement work (see above) and write one essay about why you want to be a doula plus what you liked about our program. "OR" You may take a comprehensive doula exam over the full materials. ***You must finish all of above before submitting portfolio for graduation. ****New B.L.O.O.M. Pregnancy information: We need support leaders; we require that all students read through the program (optional to buy books--we would like you to just have access to the materials); you can still opt-out of becoming a leader. However, if you decide to become a leader you will need to purchase all books and do all assignments related to the training. It is optional to become an Angel Leader (one-on-one support for pregnant mothers). *See B.L.O.O.M. Requirements for the B.L.O.O.M.
